Diagnostic Imaging

We can offer the diagnostic imaging modalities of digital radiography and ultrasonography to assist us in getting a diagnosis on your unwell pet.

Our high definition digital radiography unit takes x-rays that can help us assess your pet’s skeletal system for things such as fractures of bones, joint disease and other causes of limping or lameness.  It can also assist us in diagnosing heart or lung diseases, diseases of the abdominal organs such as the liver, spleen, kidneys as well as the gastro-intestinal tract and urinary tract. Radiology is generally painless, but sometimes we will sedate your pet to reduce the stress of being positioned for the x-ray.

We can also offer ultrasound exams including abdominal exams, urinary tract exams as well as pregnancy exams on your pets. Ultrasound provides a more detailed assessment of the abdominal organs and complements radiography to give us the full picture. Ultrasound procedures are normally done under a light sedation to keep your pet relaxed throughout the exam.

If we feel your pet requires more advanced imaging such as CT exams or endoscopy, we work closely with our local specialists and can readily refer patients to receive these services.
